Job Title: Plant Maintenance Technician
Location: Estherville, IA

Areas of Accountability

  • Equipment Maintenance
  • Equipment Installation

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work safely following all company safety policies, practices, procedures and improvement initiatives
  • Comply with all regulatory compliance requirements regarding environmental, and food/feed safety
  • Read and understand warnings, manuals and wiring schematics
  • Maintain, repair, and install plant equipment to OEM standards
  • Perform routine preventative equipment monitoring, troubleshooting, and service to ensure reliability and equipment uptime
  • Maintain a clean work environment to ensure safety and product quality
  • Communicate any accidents, threats, downtime, or cost-saving measures to the shift supervisor
  • Assist other production and maintenance personnel as needed or requested

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), preferred
  • 1-3 years’ experience working on mechanical equipment in a manufacturing environment
  • Boiler experience/certification, desired
  • HVAC/Refrigeration experience/certification, desired
  • Experience in meat processing production, desired
  • Mechanically inclined and troubleshooting abilities
  • Ability to operate welders, torches, and cutters
  • Ability operate bobcats, forklifts, tractors, trucks and Simons lift
  • Ability to maintain and service material handling equipment
  • Ability to communicate and accurately maintains records
  • Ability to understand and operate basic computer systems

Job Title: Production
Location: Estherville, IA
Reports To: Production Supervisor

Areas of Accountability

All areas of accountability to be delivered in a manner that aligns with the values and business strategy of Farmers Union Industries, LLC.

  • Will specialize on one of two production floors (cut floor or harvest floor) and can qualify at different positions to make advancements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work safely and comply with company and regulatory safety/environmental policies, practices, and procedures
  • Cut, trim, or clean meat
  • Identify cut or grade of meat
  • Inspect meat to ensure product meets quality standards
  • Clean and fold meat product
  • Operate food processing equipment/machinery
  • Ensure proper housekeeping throughout the shift and in all department areas

Qualifications

  • Previous production and/or livestock experience is preferred
  • Ability to work with a knife
  • Ability to preform repetitive tasks
  • Ability to push/pull up to 50 pounds on a routine basis
  • Ability to stand, walk, twist, bend, kneel, or squat as necessary
  • Ability to handle hot and cold conditions (must dress according to weather) and be aware of any wet floors or other hazards
